Alternatively you can ftp the data from ftp.ceda.ac.uk.\n</p>\n\n<p>\nUJCC is making use of a broad group of models in order to systematically explore the role and \nvalue of resolution in climate system research. All the UJCC models have as their baseline \nscience the initial reference HadGEM1a models used at the Hadley Centre. These build on the IPCC \nAR4 version of the model, and include various small improvements to the science and fixing of \nknown problems.\nMore details of HadGEM1a can be found \n<a href=\"http://www.higem.nerc.ac.uk/higem_only/validation/hadgem1a/hadgem1a.html\">here</a> \n(this link is restricted to those with HiGEM privileges).\n</p>\n<p>\nThe UJCC data archived at the BADC are 30 year simulations from models at the following resolutions:\n</p><ul>\n<li> N96 Atmosphere (1.25 lat x 1.875 lon), 1 degree ocean (HadGEM1a) \n</li><li> N96 Atmosphere (1.25 lat x 1.875 lon), 1/3 degree ocean\n</li><li> N144 Atmosphere (0.83 lat x 1.25 lon), 1 degree ocean\n</li><li> N144 Atmosphere (0.83 lat x 1.25 lon), 1/3 degree ocean (HiGEM)\n\n</li></ul>\n<p />\n<p>\nSimulations from the Nihon-UK Global Environmental Model (NUGEM) will also be archived at the BADC. \nNUGEM is a version of HadGEM1a run at very high N216 resolution (0.83 lat x 0.56 lon, corresponding \nto ~60 km in mid-latitudes). extract information on sulphur concentrations within tree ring archives of environmental change. The results of the successful methods tested will be presented as a useful series of data records showing pollution records stored within tree rings. Data will be held by the project team before being submitted to the BADC.</p> \n<h4>Instructions for data providers</h4>\n<p>To upload data to the ARCHIVE you will need to have access to the <em>depositor</em> group - see 3) above. NetCDF is a widely used in the geophysical community and a range of software exists to produce, read and handle NetCDF files. If preferred, NASA Ames or BADC CSV may be used for the storage of less voluminous sets of measurements. These two formats will underlie the BADC catalogue search engine and the NERC Data Grid, so that Tree Sulphur Variability datasets will be integrated swiftly into these two instruments, provided that files do include CF-compliant metadata in the formatted fields (see the next section).\n<br />In general, model data should be formatted in CF compliant NetCDF files, although there will be exceptions (particularly PP and HDF will also be accepted). \nThe BADC will provide support to data suppliers using NetCDF, NASA Ames or BADC-CSV.\n<br />Raw data (if any), software and images will be archived in their original formats. Text documents should be archived in PDF.\n<br />Data in MS Excel file format will not be accepted due to security issues.\n</p>\n<p>\nDetailed <a href=\"http://badc.nerc.ac.uk/help/metadata/\">metadata</a> is normally incorporated fully into the header section of data files, although can be submitted separately if this is not practical. With the aim of providing a consistent way of describing atmospheric data sets, the BADC promotes the use of the <a href=\"http://cf-pcmdi.llnl.gov/\">NetCDF Climate and Forecast (CF) Metadata Convention</a>. This is a standard dealing mainly with vocabulary rules for parameter names and units. Although this standard was developed with the NetCDF format in mind, it can be applied to any set of geophysical data, and probably extended to cover a much broader range of disciplines as well.
