The standard pressure levels are 1000, 925, 850, 700, 500, 400, 300, 250, 200, 150, 100, 70, 50, 30, 20 and 10 mb. Significant pressure levels are calculated according to the Met Office criteria and constitute levels at which significant events occur in the profile, e.g temperature inversions.</p>\n\n<p>The period of coverage is 1997 to present (some European stations are available from 1990), updated weekly. The hadcm3-control run is the 'baseline' model experiment with no climate change effects included (hence the term 'control'). The climate change experiment data are in the '<a href=\"http://catalogue.ceda.ac.uk/uuid/7b497337061856b59927e936dd7a1bdb\">LINK</a>' dataset.</p>\n<p>The current hadcm3-control run dataset covers 100 years (2079 - 2178), and contains all atmospheric and oceanic fields derived from the HadCM3 model. Documentation for \n <a href=\"http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~jeff/xconv/appx1.html\">convsh</a> is available, as well as \nsome <a href=\"http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~jeff/xconv/appx2.html\">example scripts</a> to illustrate \n how it should be used. </p>\n <p>The files are stored different for the 100y and the 100yr data. For the 100yr, the data are stored in a single pp file for each month which contains all the output variables. The filenames themselves are of the form aaxzka.pmy7sep.pp, where aaxzk refers to the runid, apm is the atmospheric monthly output stream, y7 gives the year, and sep indicates the month.</p>\n\n <p>For the 1000yr data the files are split into one file per variable for each month, with only a limited number of variables being extracted from the Met office (originally as part of the COAPEC project). These files are of the form 000001000000.00.010.000128.1849.12.01.00.00.pp, where 000001000000 is the time period over which the filed is calculated (in this case monthly), 00.010 is the stash code (00010), 000128 is the processing code, which here indicates the mean value over the (monthly) period, and 1849.12.01.00.00 indicates the year, month, day, hour, minute for file. In the case of monthly data, the files are actually associated with the 16th day of each month.
